Walkern is located in East Herts District and compromises the village of Walkern and two small hamlets of Bassus Green and Clay End.

Govresources worked with Walkern Neighbourhood Planning Group over a three year period from 2014 to 2017 in order to create a neighbourhood plan tailored to Walkern’s specific needs, which preserved the character of parish. Through the meetings, Govresources acted as a guiding figure, supporting the Chair and the other volunteers and was able to make the most of the group’s skillset rather than taking over the work completely.

The timeline below shows some of the work Govresources did with Walkern Neighbourhood Planning Group:

  • June 2014 – Prelimary meetings to disucss how to approach the project
  • June 2014 – September 2014 – Community consultation, Govresources helped the group to prepare for this event attended the consultation to explain the process to residents.
  • April 2015 – Public Open day, Govresources gave ensured that group were well prepared for the event and gave a introductory talk about the process.
  • June 2016 – Public open day – Govresources gave feedback on draft plan policies Govresources also drafted and finalised the overall plan which is now adopted.

Govresources also drafted and finalised the overall plan which was adopted in July 2018.
